South Shore is at a pivotal moment.
As the largest neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, South Shore is experiencing increased interest from outside investors—driven by its cultural legacy, proximity to the Obama Presidential Center, and access to parks, beaches, and transit. At the same time, long-standing residents, businesses, and institutions continue to anchor the community’s identity and economy.
The South Shore Community Wealth Forum is a three-session series designed to ensure that growth along key corridors—especially 75th Street—is shaped with the community, not around it. The forum moves beyond discussion toward practical strategies for community ownership, coordinated development, and long-term wealth building through arts, culture, and health.
This event marks the launch of the forum and sets the foundation for collaborative action.
Panel:
Tonya Trice, South Shore Chamber of Commerce
Nedra Fears, Greater Chatham Initiative
Ja'Net Defell, City Desk Chicago
Norma Sanders, Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corp.
Doors open at 5:30p RSVP [email protected]
