The Carbondale Warming Center is hosting the Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser on February 28th, 2026. The Coldest Night of the Year is a winterrific family-friendly walk to raise money for the Carbondale Warming Center and to raise awareness of unhoused people experiencing hurt and hunger on what is often measured as the coldest night of the year. This year we are joining forces with Take Action Today. We collaborate with them often as they provide peer-based recovery support services to people seeking recovery from lifestyles of substance use and/or homelessness. Take Action Today has generously agreed that funds raised will all be for the benefit of the Carbondale Warming Center in recognition that, while much support is needed to help our unhoused neighbors rebuild their lives, a vital need is safe, warm shelter.By walking in the cold, you'll feel a hint of the challenge faced by those experiencing food and housing insecurities during winter. By fundraising, you'll be contributing much-needed money to the Carbondale Warming Center to bring help and hope to people in our community who need support. This is our 4th annual walk and we have a goal to raise $100,000 to provide our unhoused neighbors with shelter, food, clothing, case management, referrals, and most importantly humanity, dignity and empathy.
