About Gavin Lewis
Gavin Lewis is Managing Director at BlackRock.
He is responsible for the strategic direction and growth of the UK & Ireland Institutional Business which encompasses Defined Contribution, Defined Benefit and UK Local Government Pension Scheme segments. He is a member of the UK Executive Committee and the Europe and Africa Institutional Leadership team. Previous to this Gavin held leadership roles at Vanguard Asset Management including Head of UK Institutional and Wholesale Distribution, Head of UK Retirement and Head of European Consultant Relations. Gavin has also held positions UBS Asset Management and Russell Investments.
Gavin holds a BA in History and Politics and from Queen Mary, University of London.
Gavin is a published author; his debut book The Opportunity Index examines the economics of inequality and was shortlisted for the 2024 British Business Book of the Year.
Gavin is a trustee of the NFL UK Foundation and is also the founder of the Catalyst Financial Education Program which equips secondary school pupils attending schools in disadvantaged areas with the tools and aspirations to enter the corporate world. Gavin was recognised in the Powerlist, which recognises the 100 most influential people of African, African Caribbean and African American heritage in in the UK and the inaugural Financial News Black Leaders in Finance List in 2026.
He has been recognised by Morehouse College and inducted into the Martin Luther King Board of Sponsors in 2023. He received the Freedom of the City of London in 2022, was recognised by the Black British Business Awards as the Senior Financial Services Professional of the year in 2020.
