In the human body, something as simple as staying upright is managed by a complex system of feedback and feedforward controls. This mix of real-time corrections and anticipatory adjustments relies on the brain processing signals from the inner ear, eyes, muscles, and joints at lightning speed in order to adjust posture and keep you steady. 3hd’s “Regulation Loop” club night at Haus der Visionäre not only applies this physiological phenomenon to its conceptual framing, but acknowledges the economic, environmental, technological, social influences that can disrupt equilibrium by borrowing its title from the engineering and systems theory term.
That such a basic function as balance can be thrown off by the failure of any number of variables in the body reveals just how fragile our somatic ecosystem is. That’s not only within our own nervous system but in relation to the world around us. Creamcake’s 3hd 2025: “Regulation Loop” party creates an environment of music and dancing; of rhythm, movement, and breath as a stabilizing and self-regulating force in the face of structural upheaval.
