About this Event
This workshop consists of two consecutive sessions.
Session 1: Sat 21 Mar 11am - 1:30pm
Session 2: Sat 28 Mar 11am - 1:30pm
One ticket covers both sessions.
This workshop is aimed at artists and creative practitioners interested in creating interactive and automated 3D environments using the Unity game engine. The sessions are designed for participants who are new to Unity and programming, but who are comfortable working with digital tools and creative experimentation.
The first session introduces Unity as a real-time 3D engine, covering the basics of the interface, 3D scene building, and C# scripting for movement and automation. Participants explore environment design, interaction logic, sound integration, and automated behaviours, with an introduction to OSC and non-conventional control methods. During the second session this knowledge will be applied to the creation and testing of an interactive, automated 3D environment.
By the end of the session, participants will
- Gain hands-on experience building and customising 3D environments in Unity
- Develop a foundational understanding of C# scripting for automation and interaction
- Learn how to integrate sound and non-conventional controllers using the OSC protocol
- Understand creative workflows for building interactive and simulated environments
