Join us for the second concert of our 2025 season: Mozart – The Late, Great Symphonies.

Mozart’s Overture to Così fan tutte sparkles with elegance and playfulness, perfectly capturing the witty and romantic essence of the opera. Its lively melodies and vibrant orchestration create an air of mischief and charm, providing a delightful and spirited opening to the concert.

Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3, composed during his teenage years, is a shining example of his youthful brilliance and charm. Its graceful melodies and playful elegance showcase the violin’s expressive range, from the lively Allegro to the tender Adagio, often celebrated for its heartfelt beauty. The spirited Rondo finale adds a joyful and virtuosic flourish, making this concerto a treasured gem in Mozart’s repertoire.

Soloist Edward Walton from Australia/UK is quickly building an international reputation as an emerging young virtuoso of outstanding potential. A student of Dr Robin Wilson, Edward was recently awarded 2nd prize in the Junior Division of the 2021 Menuhin International Violin Competition. He is the youngest musician to be selected for the 2021 ABC Young Performer Awards. In 2019 Edward was awarded first prizes at the Il Piccolo Violino Magico competition in Italy, the Medallion International Concerto Competition in the US, the Jeunes Artistes musicals du Centre in France and the International London Grand Prize Virtuoso competition.

Mozart’s Symphony No. 38, "Prague," is a masterpiece of grandeur and sophistication, composed as a tribute to the city that so deeply admired his music. From the stately and intricate opening movement to the lively and spirited finale, the symphony brims with energy and complexity. Balancing dramatic intensity with elegant charm, this work showcases Mozart’s ability to push the boundaries of the symphonic form, cementing its place as one of his most remarkable creations.
