About this Event
The RHS Lindley Library is home to the world's finest collection of books and printed material on gardening. Our outstanding archives, photography and botanical art collections trace over 500 years of garden history.
In this special workshop we will be taking a tour of gardening through time as told by the collections of the RHS Lindley Library.
We'll be taking a look at an array of rare books, archives and artworks which bring to light the people, plants and places that have shaped gardening from the 17th century through to the 20th century.
This session is open to garden historians, archivists and enthusiasts alike, who want to discover how they can research and seek inspiration from our specialist collections.
Collections material will include the influential writings of Thomas Fairchild (, 1722) and the beautiful chromolithographs of Adveno Brookes (The Gardens of England, 1856-7).
RHS Membership is not required to sign up for our Discovery Afternoon, nor to access our collections as a researcher. This session will be led by Fiona Davison, and light refreshments will be provided.
