About this Event
Join us on Tuesday, April 7th from 5:30-8:30pm in Thomson House on campus for our fourth annual WUSC McGill Spring Soiree!
The WUSC McGill Local Committee is the club at McGill that manages the university's Student Refugee Program (SRP), a unique program that resettles students from refugee camps to Montreal to study at McGill. As a club, we provide a year of full financial sponsorship, integration assistance, and day-to-day social and academic support for the SRP students, called scholars, as they pursue their degrees. Since the committee was formed in 1986, we have sponsored 60+ scholars.
This event is to raise awareness of the work of the Student Refugee Program and the impact it has had on the scholars who come to Canada through the program. Past and current SRP scholars will be joining us to either share their personal experiences with the SRP or perform some of their incredible talents!
Tickets are $5 for General Admission and free for past or current SRP scholars from McGill or any other university, college or CEGEP.
Food is included! (with numerous vegetarian options available)
Drinks: independently sold at the bar
Dress code: semi-formal
We have kept the ticket price low to make the event accessible, but if you are able and would like to contribute more, we would greatly appreciate donations to the club! The funds we raise will go towards supporting our club's initiatives, especially for organizing community events and buying supplies for the next cohort of SRP scholars we will be welcoming in August.
We hope to see you there!
