About this Event
Join Rhythm & Motion and Dancers' Group in partnership with Yerba Buena Gardens Festival and ODC for the 2026 San Francisco Pride Parade! This is your chance to dance your heart out through the center of the city alongside your friends, teachers and fellow Bay Area dancers! This year we will highlight the parade's theme,"Resistance In Action,” and express the undiminished spirit of San Francisco as a global leader in the fight for LGBTQ+ liberation and fundamental human rights. Our contingent will include dancers of all ages that together will demonstrate this theme through the power and beauty of dance!
Guided by courageous joy, deep respect and shared purpose and solidarity, our contingent is more than a performance - it is an expression of unity, visibility and pride.
Whether you identify as LGBTQ+, are a parent of a queer or trans child, an ally, an advocate, or all of the above, there is a place for you in this contingent. Dancers of all levels welcome—no previous experience required.
Once you've registered, refer to our Dance with Pride page for additional information - including rehearsal days, choreography tutorials our community agreement and more - and other updates leading up to parade day.
REGISTRATION ENDS FRIDAY, JUNE 19 AT MIDNIGHT (OR EARLIER IF WE HIT CAPACITY).
THE CHOREOGRAPHY
There are three ways for you to learn the trio of routines we'll perform in this year's parade:
-Perfect the routines at FREE in-person rehearsals (participants required to join TWO)
-Practice the routines in your living room with our online videos (Coming soon!)
-Attend select Rhythm & Motion Fusion and Essentials classes (List coming soon!)
All registrants are required to attend at least two rehearsals, as this is a performance and we want our contingent to look sharp for the crowd, the live broadcast and the judges! The rehearsals will also help you learn how to appropriately and safely move the choreography through space (i.e. while traveling down Market Street) and learn more about the message and themes we aim to embody in celebration and in support of Pride and the LGBTQ+ community.
THE COSTUMES
All registrants will receive a limited edition Dance with Pride shirt to wear on parade day. You are welcome to add anything you'd like to enhance your look, especially elements that represent your cultural heritage, or highlight the parade theme. Go as wild and crazy or as sleek and simple as you want. Comfy, supportive shoes and sunscreen highly recommended.
THE SUPPORT
To keep our group moving smoothly we need the help of many volunteers. Please invite friends and family to come out and support our group. They'll have a great time in the process - and get a shirt to boot! Volunteers supply dancers with water and snacks, hand out stickers and postcards to the crowd, and carry our contingent banner.
To volunteer:
-Choose the "Volunteer" option when you register on this website ($15 fee, includes limited edition shirt)
-All volunteers must watch a short safety video and then answer a survey to qualify as "trained." https://sfpride.org/parade-participant-training/
-For questions about volunteering, please contact us at [email protected].
THE QUESTIONS
What does my registration fee go towards?
Registration fees are used to pay all of the expenses related to the contingent’s Pride Parade production. In addition to your t-shirt and at least 2 required rehearsals (but you can attend as many as you'd like) the fee helps to cover audio technician (new this year!), application fees, insurance, t-shirt production and printing, video tutorial production, artists/teaching fees, truck rental, audio rental, banners, decor, supplies and more. In addition to the registration fee, additional support is always welcome and every bit of financial support will help to make the contingent shine. (Please select a higher ticket pricing option to help support the contingent.)
Please note: an additional Eventbrite processing fee will be added to the ticket price at checkout.
Are there any discounts?
We want to make sure that anyone interested in this event can participate. If the fee is a challenge for you, please contact us to discuss work exchange options or payment plans.
Is there an age limit to participate in the Dance with Pride contingent?
We love your kids but for safety reasons, we do not recommend that those under age 14 participate in this contingent. The parade route is long, fast moving, and a bit chaotic. Plus, you'll be lost in the moment dancing your butt off! Have them come with friends or family instead, so they can cheer you on from the sidelines. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].
What is the refund policy?
You may cancel any time on or before June 19 and receive a full refund. After June 19 we are unable to issue refunds for cancellation, but you may transfer your registration to someone else.
