🌸 The 2026 Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival's Grand Parade will take place on Sunday, April 19th and officially starts behind the San Francisco Civic Center at the corner of Polk and McAllister streets. 🌸 Those wishing to take part in the parade with the Shiba Inu Fanciers of Northern California (SFNC) club should bring their friendly Shibas and meet our group on the Civic Center Plaza lawn near the corner of Polk and McAllister streets around NOON, prior to the start of the parade.
The event takes place RAIN OR SHINE so please be prepared for any weather. We would also encourage you to wear comfortable walking shoes.
We attempt to do a Group Photo around 12:30pm on the nearby steps of the Earl Warren Hiram W Johnson Building located to the side of City Hall at 350 McAllister St, San Francisco. Once the photo is done we'll line up in front of City Hall in our respective spot.
The parade follows Polk Street north to Post Street and then turns left onto Post and continues toward Japantown. The parade concludes in Japantown near the Peace Plaza on Post Street and takes approximately 30-45 minutes to walk the entire length, which is just over a mile in distance.
* Do note that the parade is in continuous motion so if you dog needs to relive itself please head over to the sidewalk to let it do its business (please pick up afterwards!) and then catch up to our group.
Free free to dress yourself and your Shiba in traditional Japanese garb!
If you have any of our custom, limited-edition SFNC Japanese Happi Coats that we made a 9 years ago for the 50th anniversary of the festival we would like to encourage you to wear those!

Bring water and portable water bowls for your dogs to drink from during the parade. Also don't forget to bring those poop bags!
