Target Audience | This activity is targeted to physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning professionals, physician assistants, orthopaedists, sports medicine physicians, physiatrists, and primary care physicians. Residents, fellows, and students of medicine, physical therapy, and athletic training may also benefit from this activity.
Learning Objectives | Hospital for Special Surgery Continuing Education activities are intended to improve the quality of patient care and safety. At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Recognize each person’s role in the team approach (including AT, MD, PA, PT and Performance Specialists) to provide outstanding patient care and appropriately refer patients to colleagues for treatment of injuries in the athletic population.
- Incorporate evidence-based treatment strategies into the post-surgical treatment plan for athletes after multi ligament and cartilage procedures.
- Implement into practice evidence-based testing for systematic return-to-play.
- Incorporate into practice effective treatment strategies for the overhead athlete shoulder.
