About this Event
Event title:
2 day Neonatal Ultrasound workshop
Summary:
Join us for a transformative 2-day workshop designed to empower neonatal clinicians with essential ultrasound skills.
Date and time
7th and 8th May 2026
Why Attend
Aims of the Workshop:
- To enhance clinicians’ confidence and competence in performing and interpreting point-of-care cranial, liver and lung ultrasound in neonates.
- To promote safe and effective use of bedside ultrasound for the assessment of critically ill neonates.
- To support accurate tip confirmation of umbilical venous and arterial catheters using ultrasound.
- To foster interdisciplinary collaboration and discussion between neonatologists, Paediatricians, ANNPs/ENNPs, and Paediatric radiologists.
- To encourage integration of ultrasound imaging into daily neonatal clinical practice.
Who Should Attend
- Neonatologists
- Paediatricians
- Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
- Advanced Clinical Practitioners
- Resident doctors in Neonatology or Paediatrics
- Locally Employed Doctors (LED)
Day 1 – Neonatal Cranial Ultrasound & targeted Liver scan
Objectives:
- Understand the principles and indications for cranial ultrasound in neonates.
- Identify normal and abnormal cranial ultrasound findings
- Gain hands-on experience in cranial ultrasound technique on the intelligent ultrasound simulators
- Recognise key anatomical landmarks and interpret common pathologies on ultrasound.
- Discuss challenging cases with experts in neonatal neuroimaging and radiology.
· Understand the basics of the Point of Care Neonatal Liver Scan
· Identify normal hepatic structures and recognise common artefacts.
Day 2 – Neonatal Lung Ultrasound & Umbilical Lines Tip Confirmation
- Objectives:
Understand the utility and limitations of lung ultrasound in assessing respiratory conditions
Acquire hands-on experience in lung ultrasound image acquisition and interpretation.
Learn the role of ultrasound in the confirmation of umbilical catheter position, with emphasis on real-time tip localisation.
Develop skills in integrating ultrasound findings into clinical decision-making.
Interact with expert faculty to review real-life cases and best practice guidelines.
