About this Event
PHOENIX — Jazz musician and educator Doc Jones and the International Jazz Day AZ Foundation will mark the 15th anniversary of UNESCO International Jazz Day with a public celebration at Civic Space Park, co-produced by Well Do It Solution and Gabel Bay.
The Civic Space Park event serves as the statewide anchor of Arizona’s International Jazz Day observance, bringing together live jazz performances, community engagement, and cultural celebration in the heart of downtown Phoenix.
For 15 years, Jones has led efforts to unite cities, schools, and cultural organizations across Arizona around International Jazz Day, connecting local communities to a global movement celebrated in more than 190 countries. What began as a single event has grown into a statewide platform highlighting jazz as a tool for education, unity, and cultural exchange.
Arizona officially recognizes April as Jazz Appreciation Month and April 30 as International Jazz Day, reflecting the long-standing impact of the Foundation’s work in advancing jazz education and public access to the arts.
“This celebration at Civic Space Park represents everything International Jazz Day stands for—community, culture, and connection,” Jones said. “It brings Arizona together while linking us to a worldwide celebration of jazz.”
