What is the 5 Day 11 Plus Summer Course?
The Summer Intensive Course is specifically designed to improve your child’s performance in the run-up to their 11 Plus entrance examinations. It is suitable for pupils who have started preparation later and need to cover key areas of the curriculum in a short period of time, as well as for those who have been preparing throughout the year and wish to refine their skills and achieve higher marks.
Over the long summer break, it is common for children’s academic progress to stall. This course helps pupils revisit the most frequently examined topics, address any remaining gaps in knowledge, and strengthen their understanding of previously learned material.
The course focuses on the four core elements of the 11 Plus admissions process: Maths, English, Reasoning (verbal and non-verbal), and Interview Skills. Our Maths and English syllabus also includes specialised areas such as creative comprehension, thinking skills, and puzzles.
Class sizes are limited to a 7:1 pupil-to-tutor ratio, ensuring focused attention and high-quality teaching. All pupils receive workbooks to use throughout the course, which they can then take home to support further revision.
How is the course structured?
The 11 Plus Summer Course runs from Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 3:30pm, at our Central London venue. Lessons are interactive, supportive, and carefully managed by our experienced course managers, alongside a team of specialist tutors, to keep children engaged, motivated, and confident throughout the week.
The week begins and ends with mock exams conducted under timed conditions. These assessments allow us to identify each child’s strengths and areas for improvement, group pupils appropriately, and tailor teaching throughout the course to ensure every child is suitably challenged.
Following the course, a detailed written report containing honest feedback and clear recommendations is emailed to parents within 10 working days. This ensures parents are fully informed about their child’s progress and next steps.

- Understanding algebraic language and using algebraic formulas to solve problems (maths)
- Mastering the relationship between fractions, decimals, percentages and ratios (maths)
- Finding the area, perimeter and volume of common shapes (maths)
- Extracting information from tables, charts, graphs and pie charts (maths and creative comprehension)
- Solving complex worded questions and problems in the fastest methods (maths and puzzles)
- Comprehension – writing to score top marks (English and creative comprehension)
- Improving creative writing to gain maximum marks (English)
- Spelling, punctuation and grammar revision (English)
- Vocabulary (English and verbal-reasoning)
- Logical deduction skills (Verbal reasoning)
- Spatial awareness (Non-verbal reasoning and maths)
- Identifying similarities between shapes and words (verbal and non-verbal reasoning)
- Mathematical concepts such as symmetry, rotation and reflection (maths and non-verbal reasoning)
- Interview skills and exam technique
Children are welcome to join us for multiple weeks. Each week’s course will be different, so children who have attended our courses previously will extend their learning and will not be repeating the same content.
Who is the 11 Plus Summer Intensive Course for?
Our 11 Plus Summer Course in London is designed for pupils currently in Year 5 and moving into Year 6 in September, who are preparing for grammar school or independent school 11+ entrance exams.
The course is suitable for children at all stages of preparation. Whether your child has been preparing for several years or is starting their 11+ journey more recently, the programme is structured to support progress, build confidence and strengthen exam technique.
To ensure every child gains maximum benefit, pupils are grouped by ability and year group, allowing teaching to be appropriately paced and targeted.
If your child is currently in Year 4 and moving into Year 5 in September and is preparing for the 10+ exams, we recommend enrolling in our , which is specifically designed for that stage.
