Looking for a hands-on way to explore carpentry and the skilled trades after school? ASD Girls in Gear: Carpentry (Evenings) is a FREE evening training that introduces high school–aged students to the fundamentals of carpentry through real tools, real projects, and real-world skills.This program is designed for students who want to learn by doing, build confidence, and gain experience in a supportive shop environment with instructors from Alaska Works Partnership.
🪚 What You’ll Learn:
• Core carpentry skills and essential trades math
• Measuring and layout techniques, including the 3-4-5 method
• Safe use of common hand and power tools such as hammers and saws
• Construction safety basics and jobsite expectations
• Build real projects, including a footstool and a coffee table
📅 Schedule: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday
📆 Dates: April 20 – 30, 2026
⏰ Time: 3:30 – 6:30 PM
