About this Event

Join us at Liberties house for a screening of Alannah Wilson’s award winning debut short film ‘Our Last Summer’.
Experience a story of love, friendship, challenge and loss as best friends Charlie and Niamh prepare to embark on seperate life paths for the first time.
Our Last Summer handles themes of serious mental health struggles, and the devastating consequences these can have, and the screening will be followed by a discussion with creative mental health professional Kevin O’Byrne.
Written, directed and co-produced by 20 year old Alannah Wilson ‘Our Last Summer’ has already won several International Shorts Awards LA (including Best Acting Duo and Best First Time Female Director) and been nominated for Best Short Film at Tokyo International Cinema Awards; New York Shorts Awards; International Independent Film & Screenplay Festival Paris/Graz; and was Jury Pick as Best Newcomer in the Cal Film Festival (USA).
Kevin O'Byrne is a Dublin-based psychotherapist and psychological consultant for creative industries in Ireland. Kevin is an active musician and initially graduated from BIMM’s BA Commercial Modern Music (Guitar) and went to study music therapy in Queen Margaret’s University In Edinburgh.
Kevin’s private practice ‘Lyric Therapy’ has the working ethos of ‘Curious Not Critical’ draws on his clinical and creative training to move past conventional counselling to provide mental health support that is culturally affirmative and focused on personal meaning and creativity.
