《飛行練習｜蘇俊銓個展》經歷了小時候家庭的變動，無論是父母的爭執與離異，或是至親的過世，蘇俊銓的童年，時常藉由拿起畫筆，在房間的牆上描繪出一個充滿想像而被愛的世界，來隔絕外來的緊張與壓力。而這從小建立起的防衛機制，使他對於童年的解構與探索，有著強烈的驅使力。
此次個展「飛行練習」，主題圍繞著藝術家的自我認同、成長，以及創傷。在初期的系列作品中，蘇俊銓用了相對寫實的手法，來探討這些議題。透過生活裡的各種經驗與回憶-死去的寵物、紀念日的花、和商店裡的玩具等，藝術家用隱喻的方式，來回應他對於生命議題的抵抗、接受、跨越、以及突破。
而在後期的系列作品裡，蘇俊銓加入了許多象徵性的角色-不斷地在尋找出口的梅花鹿、體驗著自由與死亡的水母，還有練習飛越山頭的小馬等。他藉由建造夢一般的超現實風景，來探索各種成長裡的二元關係-現實與夢境、自我與群體、理性與情感、生命與死亡，在過程中與其對話，試圖尋找調節，甚或是超越此二元關係的可能性，並邀請觀者一起尋覓各種練習飛行的方式。（文 / 蘇俊銓）
Flight Practice: A Solo Exhibition by Su Chun Chuan
Having experienced significant family changes in childhood—whether through parental conflict and divorce or the passing of loved ones—Su Chun Chuan often turned to painting as a means of self-preservation. In the solitude of his room, he transformed walls into portals, constructing imagined worlds infused with love, shielding himself from external tension and anxiety. This early development of a defense mechanism later became the driving force behind his deconstruction and exploration of childhood.
In Flight Practice, Chun Chuan navigates themes of self-identity, growth, and trauma. His early series embraces a figurative approach, examining these themes through fragments of lived experiences—departed pets, flowers from anniversaries, toys in store windows. Through layered metaphors, the artist responds to notions of resistance, acceptance, transcendence, and breakthrough in the face of life’s impermanence.
In later works, Chun Chuan introduces a cast of symbolic figures: deer in perpetual search of a way out, jellyfish drifting between freedom and demise, a young horse training to leap over distant mountains. These dreamlike, surreal landscapes serve as a foundation for his inquiry into dualities—reality and illusion, self and collective, reason and emotion, life and death. Through these dialogues, he seeks not only reconciliation but also the possibility of transcending such binaries, inviting viewers to engage in their own practice of flight.
