About this Event

imagine a pink majestic church filled with colorful creatures coming together to sing ~ defying gravity ~ from the depth of our hearts 💚

Come join us on Tuesday 4.11. for the following offerings

arriving and lighting your personal candle on the altar setting an intention for the evening or the upcoming winter period
welcoming words, meditation & connecting cuties
warming up our voices & bodies
intro into the song defying gravity and practicing two voices
short break - bring yummii snäcks
singing both voices together ✨
sound integration & closing words

We welcome you from 18:45 and will start together at 19:15 - please arrive by 19 so you have time to settle into the beautiful space 💛

Together we will close the space by 10 pm intending to see many soft, rested, excited faces & bodies✨

This unique blend of an event will take place at a the round purple magic light infused Genezareth Church in the heart of Neukölln. The location is wheelchair accessible and we provide a quiet room - find more details in the FAQs below.

WHAT IS A CHOIR & CONNECTiON Experience?

It is an opportunity to sing in a choir for a few hours only. A celebration of song and the connective power of singing in harmony. An opportunity to build community, make some new friends, and raise our powerfully diverse voices as one.

No auditions. No commitment. No judgment or need for perfection.

Just the joy of creating something bigger than ourselves with a pink majestic church full of beautiful colorful creatures!

In our time together, we'll:

Play some fun singing games, warmups, and connection moments
Work through the piece section by section
Break down the lyrics and emotions at play in the song
Rehearse and sing our hearts out to and shape some key musical moments

Whether you're a vocal ensemble veteran or have never sung in a group before, you are welcome here - all experience levels are valued here <3

OUR SONG: Defying Gravity from Wicked

For this event we will sing the soaring anthem of freedom and self-discovery Defying Gravity from our beloved musical Wicked, composed by Stephen Schwartz. We’ll lift our voices to capture the spirit of breaking limits, embracing courage, and rising above doubt through a stunning arrangement. It’s time to trust your instincts, take flight, and defy gravity ✨🧚✨

LEARNING THE MUSIC

Sheet music and vocal recordings of each part will be available as learning resources before the event is sent out in an email, to accommodate multiple ways of learning.

The intention is for us to come into the evening having already familiarized ourselves with the parts, so that we can spend our time together really diving into the joys of connection and expression in the music rather than simply teaching parts one by one.

That being said, we’re just doing this for ourselves, so there’s no need to stress over it (and definitely no need to memorize it or get it “perfect”, ever)! It’s also often easier to sing in person, when the rest of our part-buddies are singing the part with us. The community is here to support! Our primary intention here is simply to have fun and make some great music.

~ who are we & why are we doing this? ~

we are 3 passionate queer event-organizers who love to bring together cute creatures to connect & siiing 🪄

We have been doing events together for sometime now - and now want to invite to our biggest collaboration yet - in our favorite event location✨

momo (momo/they) initiated the first Equinox Extravaganza as well as the Quining Circle in 2022 and for this edition will focus on production, deco & of course being a connection faerie 🧚

Jose Garcia(non/binary) Participated in 8 musicals in Chile, being part of the main characters and also producer. Participate in tv shows of singing and also teach singing classes in different schools in Chile and Spain. Facilitator, songwriter and musician.

Roby (they/them) is our playful two-spirit guide, carrying sacred wisdom from South America. They’ll lead us in a grounding ritual to root into the magic of the season. With a voice shaped by colorful choirs and queer collectives like Mujeres de Luna.

~ ticket prices ~

We offer a sliding scale of 20-25-30 intenting to balance inequalities and unsupportive structures while still covering the costs of the event.

If that is currently not possible for you and you can imagine to be a helper during setup, takedown, or both or supporting with make-up, photography etc please write to [email protected] - we will try to find a solution by helperspots. For one hour of support we can offer tickets for 10-15€, for two shifts you can join for free✨
