About this Event
Give your kids a fun, creative outlet during the Thanksgiving break with our Drop-In Mini Comedy Camp! They'll join us for days filled with fun, laughter, and skill-building that will have them flexing their funny bone. They can join us for one day or gobble up all three!
Each day is packed with engaging activities designed to boost confidence and creativity:
- Character Work: They'll explore and develop a cast of original characters, giving them unique voices, movements, and personalities that are sure to bring big laughs.
- Improv & Games: Kids will dive into the fundamentals of improvisational comedy, learning how to think on their feet, say "Yes, and...", and create hilarious scenes spontaneously. It's the ultimate team sport for the imagination!
- Play & Story Writing: We'll tap into their inner author! Campers will learn basic storytelling structure as they write short sketches and comedic stories.
- Performance Skills: Throughout the camp, they'll practice projection, stage presence, and timing—essential skills not just for comedy, but for school presentations and life!
- Costumes, Props, & More: Campers will learn how to use simple costumes and props to quickly define a character, enhance a scene, and create funny visual gags.
And because improv is all about teamwork, they’ll practice cheering each other on and supporting even the silliest ideas.
Class Details:
- Ages: 8-12 (grouped into 8-10 and 11-12)
- Dates: Monday, November 24 through Wednesday November 26. Our drop-in structure means you can sign up for one day, two days, or all three—perfect for navigating those tricky holiday schedules.
- Time: 9 am to 4 pm
Note: All students should bring a sack lunch. A refrigerator and microwave are available for use. Students must follow the Stomping Ground Youth Program behavior guidelines.
