About this Event

Become certified by the National Council for Mental Well-Being Mental Health First Aid National Trainers Karyn Feeney and Suzanne Clark demonstrating the course to fidelity.

Karyn has been providing train the trainer (MHFA instructor) workshops for MHFA since early 2020. She resides in Missouri and is retired from federal law enforcement. Karyn brings her lived experience as a caregiver supporting individuals and caregivers living with mental health challenges. Suzanne has been providing train the trainer workshops for MHFA since 2016. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida.

This certification satisfies the recommendation of becoming a YMHFAider prior to becoming a Youth MHFA instructor.

This training teaches skills adults may use to reach out and provide initial support to youth who may be developing a mental health or substance use challenge and help connect the young person to the appropriate care.

The course will teach you how to apply the ALGEE action plan:

•Assess for risk of suicide or harm

•Listen nonjudgmentally

•Give reassurance and information

•Encourage appropriate professional help

•Encourage self-help and other support strategies

This course is open to participants residing in the U.S.

The course requires advanced registration and payment via Eventbrite.

Course Format:

•Participants must complete 2-hours of self-paced training prior to the course date. Self-paced training will be emailed 48 hours prior to the start of the course.

•The 4.5-hour portion of the course is a small group-interactive training. Participants will join via Zoom and should be prepared to be present and actively engaged for the whole course.

Technology Requirements:

•Computer with microphone, camera, and speakers. Participants are encouraged to be on camera throughout the interactive instructor led portion.

•HD webcam

•Internet speed of at least 5mbps. Test your internet speed at https://www.speedtest.net/

For the best experience it is recommended to update zoom's latest version.

-Minimum number of participants required. We will notify you 24 hours prior to the course if cancelled and attempt to reschedule you for a later course. Courses offered frequently 2024.

100% refund or opportunity to reschedule based on class availability if cancelled 7 days prior to the course.

50% refund if cancelled within 7 days of training and an opportunity to reschedule with a rollover of remaining 50%.

No refunds if cancelled within 24 hours of the start of the class.
