Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

Join us at the Irish Immigration Pastoral Center Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a Youth Mental Health First Aid training.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is a certificate conferred by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing and the certification is valid for 3 years. Participants will be required to complete two hours of self-paced content online in advance of the in-person training.

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches parents, caregivers, coaches, teachers, and anyone else how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge. It is a certification conferred by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing and is valid for three years.

The course will cover:

• Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in youth, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and ADHD.
• Signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.
• Typical adolescent development.
• A 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

We will be available to assist you if you are having trouble accessing the online content and will check in if we do not hear from you. You must complete the online content to be able to attend the in-person training.
