About this Event
This course is offered FREE through a grant to anyone who lives, works, worships, goes to school or provides service or support to anyone in Dallas, Hunt, Rockwall, Kaufman, Ellis, and Navarro counties.
This course is for adults that work with youth, you must be 18 years or older to attend. This training offers 6 CEUs. Registration open to 25 participants. If you have experienced a recent trauma or loss to suicide it is advisable to attend MHFA at a later date.
Here are the steps to receive your certification:
1. Pre-work: Self-paced online learning - approximately 2 hours
2. Instructor Led Training (ILT): Via Zoom platform. The class is from 8:30am - 1:30pm. This time includes a couple short breaks and 20 minute lunch.
3. Post Course Work: This includes a survey, final exam, and course evaluation.
Participants will need access to a computer or smart device with a webcam, speakers or earphones and a microphone. Participation is required for certification. This course requires the pre-work MUST BE COMPLETED prior to attending the 6.5-hour virtual classroom. Links will be sent to participants enrolled two weeks prior to the course.
If you are unable to attend after enrolling in the course, you must notify us immediately to open up seats for waitlisted participants. Pre-work doesn't follow you to another class if you complete it and do not attend the class, you must attend the whole course to receive credit and be certified as a Mental Health First Aider.
Attendees must have video and audio capabilities and be present on screen during the whole class to be certified as a Mental Health First Aider.
