About this Event
Youth Mental Health First Aid is a nationally recognized training that equips adults with the skills and confidence to support young people (ages 12–18) facing mental health or substance use challenges—including during times of crisis. This course is ideal for parents, caregivers, educators, school staff, community members, and anyone who regularly interacts with youth.
Participants will learn to:
- Recognize common mental health challenges in adolescents
- Understand typical adolescent development
- Apply a 5-step action plan to offer support in crisis and non-crisis situations
Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, eating disorders, ADHD, and conditions involving psychosis or disruptive behaviors.
We’re proud to welcome back Celia Ruiz of United Healthcare as the course facilitator. Celia has delivered this life-saving training throughout the metro - in both English and Spanish.
