About this Event
The Youth for Change Health Summit is the one stop shop to prioritize youth health and well-being in Jacksonville.
This will be a day where young people lead the way. Using the lens of youth voice and participation, young people have been a part of this event from inception, to planning through execution. Sessions will feature topics on youth voice, mindfulness, creative expression, cooking demonstrations, etc.
Breakout Sessions: Titles/Descriptions (Please note there will be two break-out sessions. These sessions will run at 11:05-11:55 am and 12:35-1:55 pm. Please pick two sessions you would like to attend).
Gardening & Self-Care: Planting seeds in a health-focused gardening activity fosters a positive and supportive environment, enabling participants to engage in hands-on planting that aligns with the power nine principle "Plant Slant" approach of consuming more fruits and vegetables.
DCPS Connection Circles: Games to get the body moving. Introduce some mindfulness techniques to check in with one’s body and information on brain activity.
Mentoring through Martial Arts: Jiu Jitsu in practice
Unlocking Your Purpose: These sessions will work with youth to better understand and determine their why.
Spoken Word for Mental Health: Join Spoken Word Artists as they share how using the spoken word is a powerful healing tool. Opportunity will be given for participants to share their own spoken word piece.
Honor/Grief Sessions: This session is for a young person who has lost someone close to them and they are looking for a way to honor/share their memory. Come and share about the impact of those you loved.
Just Add Rhythm! Sharpening Skills & Discovering Wellness Through Music and Rhythm: During this breakout session, you’ll experience hands-on the benefits of group drumming as a tool for self-care, self-awareness and stress reduction.
