What you'll gain:
  • Practical facilitation skills for working with young people and communities
  • Frameworks for youth voice and co-production
  • Confidence in creating safe, inclusive, wellbeing-aware spaces
  • Understanding of trauma awareness in creative settings
  • 12 months' access to all learning materials
  • Increased employability and professional credibility
  • A relationship with Rural Media — and genuine potential for future freelance work

Who is this for?
  • The training, put together by Rural Media and Artswork, is designed for emerging digital creatives such as short filmmakers, content makers, digital producers who are interested in facilitation and working with young people.
  • We're particularly keen to hear from people with lived experience of being rural, of marginalisation or of disadvantage.
  • You don't need to be an experienced facilitator as the training is for people who are earlier in that journey and want to build skills and confidence.
  • To apply, register your interest via this page and we'll be in touch with information. Places are limited.

What's included?
  • In person: Half-day Creative Facilitation in Practice group session at Rural Media, West Street, Hereford, HR40BX, on Wednesday May 13th, 10am-1pm.
  • Online: Half-day Trauma Awareness in Facilitation group session delivered on Zoom on Wednesday May 20th.
  • Youth Voice: Exploring Models of Participation — practical frameworks for supporting young people's voice, influence and ownership, including Hart's Ladder, the Lundy Model and Treseder's Degrees of Participation. An eLearning module which you complete at your own pace, 12 months access.
  • Creating Wellbeing-Aware Environments — how to create spaces where people feel safe, included and able to engage, with a focus on reflective practice and boundaries. An eLearning module which you complete at your own pace, 12 months access.
  • You'll also be invited to a short online or in-person setup session before the programme begins to get you ready for the eLearning.

Below is a behind-the-scenes film from Rural Media's project Razom which uses creative facilitation sessions to support groups of young people to work together in 2023 on a short film production.
