The Youth Empowerment Night - One in The Chamber, is back again!
Join us at the Shipman Youth Zone for an evening of inspiration, motivation, and empowerment. We ran this event last year April with the team at The Source in Stratford and it was an amazing turn out! So, we're back again! This time with the Youth Empowerment Team over a t the Shipman Youth Centre!
M.B.P “Motivational Barber Patrick Phipps” and Newham Youth Empowerment present “One in the Chamber,” a groundbreaking short film viewing, produced by Patrick Phipps, in collaboration with Cut Above the Rest Production.
Come down for a family-friendly show, suitable for adults and young people 12 years and older. Hosted by Patrick Phipps, the night will feature a stellar lineup of opening acts and speakers, including: -
Performances by:
- Starr - Child singer
- SWVrthy - Shakespeare's protagonist with a Zim twist
- Alex - Pro dancer
Youth Organisations & Guest speakers
- Proud To Be Me - Empowering individuals, particularly women and girls who have faced significant challenges such as mental health issues, domestic violence, health conditions.
- 21Up - creating opportunities and activities that empower youth, helping them build a belief system that fosters personal growth and resilience. It aims to address the mental health impacts of the pandemic on young individuals and provide them with the tools they need to thrive.
- Kooth - a free, safe, and anonymous online platform where young people can access mental health support whenever they need it.
- Fight for Peace - a global organisation that supports young people to reach their full potential in communities affected by crime and violence.
- Coaching with Shaneen Phipps from The Multicoloured Space
- A conversation with Guinness world record holder Aycan from NY Hair
- A talk with Simon Hudson, former teacher of 33 years and author of “History Through the Black Experience”, designed to support teachers in delivering meaningful lessons, addressing black history and EDI.

The event will close with a showing of a short film called, “One in The Camber”, a film written before the book “Twisted Lanes” was written by Patrick Phipps, the events host. The film explores the consequences of young people engaging in crime and how damaging it can be. It encourages young people to take the right paths and moves adults.
