HOW IT WORKSThe event is for young girls aged 8 to 17 with an early interest in business, sales, products, and services and those with passions and creative pursuits. The event will be of interest to families who want to expose their children to business and entrepreneurial concepts, provide opportunities to learn the practical and social/emotional skills needed to explore alternative options for their future and develop their confidence, creativity and stategic skills
SHE BUILDS…Each participant creates their own product line or service business and starts their own business.
As examples for products participants can create fashion, accessories, greeting cards, stationary, soaps, oils, home decor and more. For services students have created dog washing, lemonade/drink stands, baking, gardening.
SHE OWNS…Participants learn biz skills such as branding, advertising, logo creation, marketing, cost and profit and walk away with a complete business plan and marketing launch plan.
They then get the opportunity to “pitch” their business idea to gain public speaking experience.
SHE EARNS…At the end of the program, participants host a pop-up store learning how to engage with customers. For Virtual/Zoom participants learn to make a zoom event for friends and family where they can show their products and take orders. Students keep their all their earnings.
Girls also have the option of opening an online store in our SELF MADE GIRLS marketplace. Stores can be private for friends and family, or public.
Note: Parents are allowed to attend with their child.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
WORKSHOP 1:
Ideas + Goals
Participants will learn the fundamentals of starting a business and start to brainstorm about their business idea.
Planning + production
Participants will use our business plan to create their own business to develop a business name, logo, pricing and merchandising.
AT HOME
Participants will work independently to produce 12-24 products (or merchandise) which they will sell in-person at our pop up shop or virtually to their friends and family
WORKSHOP 2: Marketing Plan
Participants will create a marketing launch plan and work together to create a bustling pop up shop launch day!
Jan 2025 Execution + Pitch Contest!
They will execute their marketing plan through their chosen marketing channels.They will also have the opportunity to “pitch” their business idea to our panel.
POP UP MARKET: In Person + Virtual
Participants will gain real world experience operating their business during our community supported pop up shop and keep all the money they earn! Markets are held once a month.
Through this program, participants develop:
Confidence and agility around ideating solutions to real-world problems
Setting goals and decision making skills
Experience launching fully-functioning business endeavors
Knowledge of key business concepts
Applied skills in prototyping, communication, marketing, project management, team-based collaboration, and more
Learning about finance, budgeting and money management
Leadership + networking through role playing and negotiating activities.
Developing a growth mindset and resilience around taking risks and overcoming challenges
