About this Event
Join us this Autumn for a special edition of YKWU in collaboration with second-hand fashion brand Traid. These intimate sessions will take place on the last Saturday of every month at the Traid store in Shepherds Bush from 12-3pm.
Every session invites a young emerging designer to demonstrate how to knit or crochet clothes and accessories from second hand materials including textiles and vintage yarn.
These FREE sessions are limited to twelve spaces and on a first come, first served basis, so please arrive early to ensure your spot.
about YKWU
You Can Knit With Us (YKWU) is Colèchi’s very own knitting club that started as a way to encourage people take part in the art of producing fashion through knitting; and to change generic preconceived ideas of who knits. YKWU collaborates with knitwear designers, yarn producers and educators to allow an explorative reconnection with traditional clothes making.
about Traid
Traid is a charity retailer offering an alternative to buying new clothes with locations across London. As a pioneer in collecting, sorting, and selling second-hand clothes, Traid’s aim is to progress the concept of reuse so that it becomes the first choice for as many people as possible.
about the designer
This workshop is led by Marli Wildish, a London-based crochet designer and fibre artist behind Drop Out Crochet, a brand that redefines knitwear with an eclectic twist. Since 2020, Marli has crafted playful and unique designs, ranging from clothing to home accessories, drawing inspiration from UK festival culture, nature, women, and all things silly, sexy, and colourful. In this workshop, Marli will guide you through creating your own crochet coaster.
