About this Event
This show is a collection of old and new pieces of art, all connected by one thing: mental health, healing, and learning healthier ways to cope with life’s ups and downs. When I was little, I lost my dad to suicide. That experience shaped who I am and why I make the work I do today. I started making art for my own mental health, and it became a way to process feelings, comfort my inner child, and create something gentle out of something painful. During the pandemic - I started sharing that art with SF.
Through my work, aka Ian the Meow, I focus on positive affirmations, cats, and reminders to treat ourselves with more kindness. Art is for everyone. We don’t have to sell it or show it to anyone for it to matter. Sometimes art is just a quiet, personal way to heal the parts of us that need care.
Mental health is for everyone, and it’s just as important as physical health. We all deserve tools, support, and spaces that help us feel a little more okay.
At the event, you can expect fun, comforting art and merch by Ian the Meow, a chill atmosphere inside a cool laundromat, and a welcoming space to slow down and take a breath. Cat attire is encouraged (but not mandatory).
Let’s be nicer to ourselves.
