About this Event
Inspired by Traditional Indian Yoga Education
A 5-Week Immersive Experience • Beginning June 15, 2026
At Yogshala, we believe yoga was never meant to be rushed, performative, or reduced to exercise alone.
The Yogshala Foundation Course in Hatha Yoga Science & Wellness is a structured immersive program inspired by the traditional style of foundational yoga education taught in renowned Indian yoga institutes and ashram learning environments.
Designed for sincere practitioners, aspiring teachers, and current yoga teachers wishing to revisit authentic foundations, this course offers a deeper exploration of yoga through Hatha Yoga practice, pranayama, meditation, yogic philosophy, self-discipline, awareness, and conscious living.
Blending classical teachings with a grounded modern approach, this immersion reflects the depth of over 1200 hours of traditional yoga education and training undertaken in India by the founder of Yogshala.
This is the kind of foundational learning many travel to Rishikesh to experience.
Now offered in an intimate small-group setting in Montreal.

What is Hatha Yoga?
Hatha Yoga is one of the oldest and most foundational systems of yoga.
Traditionally, Hatha Yoga was developed to prepare the body and mind for deeper states of awareness through conscious movement, breath regulation, discipline, and stillness.
The word “Hatha” symbolizes the balance of opposite energies:
Ha- sun, tha- moon,
effort and ease,
strength and softness.
Unlike fast-paced modern yoga styles, traditional Hatha Yoga emphasizes:
- posture stability,
- breath awareness,
- concentration,
- nervous system balance,
- mindful movement,
- and inner awareness.
At Yogshala, Hatha Yoga is taught slowly and intentionally — allowing students to truly understand the body, breath, and mind beyond performance or flexibility.
