About this Event
Join Ruth (she/her) to experiment with yoga asana and play with new ways of moving. Responding to requests from our community for more challenging practices, this workshop will give you the opportunity to try intermediate poses and transitions, as well as receive individual support and advice on any poses you are working on. There will also be plenty of time to relax and reset after your hard work.
While this workshop is not suitable for absolute beginners, don't worry - you do not need to be an expert practitioner, this is a judgement-free space to learn, fail and grow together!
Schedule
Please aim to arrive at least 5 minutes before we start to set up - unfortunately latecomers cannot be admitted.
3:30-4 | Grounding breathwork and active warmup
4-4:30 | Self practice with assists
4:30-4:45 | Play with props
4:45-5 | Extended savasana
...and as always, feel free to stay for a cup of tea and chats after class!
Pricing
The cost of this workshop is £20 to cover our studio hire and teaching, with 35% reinvested back into running Queer Yoga Edinburgh. If you are unable to pay, please just get in touch for a free space, no questions asked. The Pay It Forward option helps us to continue improving our offerings to the community.
Getting Here
The studio is situated towards the bottom end of Leith Walk. There are limited on-street parking spaces available on the smaller side streets, but there are plenty of of public transport options including a tram stop just a couple of minute's walk from the studio, and bus stops for the 7, 14, 16, 25 and 49 right outside.
About the Space
The main studio space is on one floor at street-level with one small step to the front door . There is a seating area to remove shoes, two all-gender bathroom stalls, and a small room to leave bags and coats. The studio will be locked during our workshop so your belongings are secure, but you can leave the room at any time if you need a break.
We will be playing some music through the workshop and will be lighting the space with dim lighting and/or small electric candles, otherwise, there is natural light coming through the windows. There is frosting on the windows so passer-bys can't look in, but you may hear some noises from vehicles or pedestrians outside during our practice.
What to Bring
Mats will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. Blocks, blankets and bolsters will be provided, as well as straps and eye pillows wherever needed or wanted. Chairs can also be provided if needed for some or all of practice. We suggest you wear comfy clothes you can freely move in (joggers, shorts, T-shirts etc). Layers may be helpful to stay warm.
We hope to see you there! Please do get in touch with any questions: [email protected]
