About this class This one hour class is intended to increase your flexibility, strength and balance. We will move gently and slowly through our yoga poses so we can feel them in our bodies. Be prepared with a blanket and yoga mat. Wear loose, stretchy, comfy clothing. The class is held in a national historic landmark building, the Redwood City Woman's Club located in the lovely Mount Carmel neighborhood. You do not need to be a Redwood City Woman's Club member to attend. You don't even have to be a woman. Give yourself time to park as parking is limited in the area.
About me My name is Vicki Martell. I started practicing yoga over 20 years ago. I continued with my first teacher for 3 years and never realized that all yoga wasn't a slow flow of poses. Over the years, I have tried all manner of classes, but continue coming back to this gentle style of yoga because I like to move leisurely through poses and feel them in my body. As a student, I always love teachers with themes and stories to tell, so that is what I try to provide too.
I am a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance RYT 500 through College of San Mateo and YogaRenew. I have trained for over 700 hours! Certified for prenatal and postnatal yoga with Jane Austin Yoga. Certified for Yin Yoga with Bernie Clark Yin Yoga. Trained in Trauma-informed yoga with Art of Yoga Project.
About Wholehearted Yoga Yoga should be available to everyone. Rich and poor. Flexible and tight. Young and old. Beginner and advanced. Playful and serious. Wholehearted Yoga is about much more than physical poses and touching your toes. It is about breath, meditation and showing up in the world with kindness, honesty, compassion, generosity and gratitude.
Wholehearted Yoga provides a fun, gentle, and calming environment accessible and available to everyone. All classes are donation-based. Suggested donation is $10-$25 and will benefit local organizations that support women, children and families that are struggling.
RELEASE FORM: By signing up for this class, I release Vicki Martell, Amanda Modell, Tina Real and the Redwood City Woman's Club (the "Providers")from any responsibility and/or liability concerning the application, processing, and/or consequences of the yoga service I elected to receive. I consent to have yoga services of my choice applied.
I release and hold the Providers harmless against any and all liability, damage, and/or expenses arising out of or in connection with actions, claims, and/or damages resulting in personal injuries and disabilities (physical and/or psychological) that I might incur as a result of the service provided today. I understand that additional treatments may be recommended and/or necessary for maintenance.
