Ever wonder why you can leave one yoga class feeling incredible, while on another day a similar class can leave you feeling agitated and uneasy? Often this is less about the class, and more about your mood, energy, and nervous system going into the class. The right class can be grounding, the wrong class can be discombobulating.
In this informal and relaxed workshop you will learn how to use yoga to support your mood, and shift your internal state.
In this workshop we will cover:
various nervous system states and how these present in body, breath, and mind.
How to identify our internal state, and consciously shift our mood through yoga practices
Practices that energise for when we feel lethargic or low, and practices that calm for when we feel agitated or anxious
How to create short home practices that balance our mood
How to select yoga classes to support us most effectively
short vinyasa/yin/restorative sequences, breathwork, and simple self practices such as tapping, accupressure, eye yoga.
The workshop will include a hand out of all the practices covered.
This will be a relaxed workshop where you are free to ask any questions and come as you are. All moods warmly welcomed.
Helen came from an education and career in psychology and mental health, before training as a yoga teacher 6 years ago. What naturally evolved was an interest in yoga for mental health. Helen has trained in various yoga styles including power, vinyasa, and yin before undertaking an extensive training to become a yoga therapist. Helen now teaches yoga therapy for mental health from her home in Devon’.
