Now retired Chris Hare enjoyed a successful career in Events Management spanning over 40 years, starting out in 67 as an Entertainment Assistant working for Arthur Askey, moving on to become an International Jazz Festival director & Theatre Events Manager at South London's Broadway Theatre in the process winning Encore UK Theatre Manager of the Year in 2000 & a lifetime achievement award in 2012,Over the years, he has rubbed shoulders with Royalty and worked on over 30 professional-name pantomimes encountering countless household names from the world of music, comedy, and entertainment, including such greats as Sir Norman Wisdom, Tommy Cooper, Morecambe & Wise, Mike Yarwood, Max Bygraves, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Roy Orbison, Tony Bennett, Eddie Izzard, and Roberts Flack, to name but a few.
His career as a hilarious after-dinner speaker and awards ceremony host began by accident when a guest failed to turn up at a club dinner, and invitations have flowed in ever since.
OLC is delighted that Chris has agreed to speak at our club, where he is a member. The proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Awareness.
The premises and CAMRA Award Winning Bar (CARD PAYMENT ONLY) will be open from 6.15 p.m. on the day.
It's free entry to Club Members & £1 to others payable at the bar.
There will be a CASH hat collection for Chris's nominated Charity. The suggested minimum is £6 but please consider giving more if you can afford it.
