An evening of short films that explore movement, through the medium of the moving image.
About this Event

Following the success of its inaugural edition in September 2024, Motion in Frame returns with a powerful second instalment.

Curated and hosted by Petra Haller, a member of the CDS Artist Community and interdisciplinary artist known for her work in tap dance, jazz, and performance art, Frame in Motion 2 brings together a diverse programme of short films by both Chisenhale Studios members and selected external artists.

The event provides a unique space to celebrate artists working across disciplines who engage with film and video as a space for innovation and storytelling. The featured works may take many forms — narrative shorts, experimental film, video art, performance documentation, animation, or movement-based visual explorations — but they are all united by a desire to push boundaries and connect deeply with audiences.

The evening includes a post-screening Q&A with participating artists.

About the Host:

(she/her)

Petra Haller is a London-based Independent dance artist, known for her work in performance art and contemporary dance as well as a tap dancer and jazz musician. She has made her first steps in the film world with the short "my feet rejoiced in color and then my hands joined too" which was shown as Motion in Frame 1 last year.

Accessibility:

Please note, we are on the second floor of a warehouse building, accessed by a staircase only. We regret that we cannot currently adequately support wheelchair users and those for whom stairs are a barrier.

We are committed to removing other barriers to access. If you would like to talk to us about your access needs, please contact: [email protected]. Read more about our commitments to anti-ableism as part of our Artist Community Culture Document

About WTF Thursdays:

WTF Thursdays is a space creating possibilities for experimentation and community-building amongst artists. Each evening, CDS hands over the keys to the building for an artist in the CDS Artist Community to host an event in the spirit of low-stakes, DIY action.

Tickets are low-cost, pay what you can, with all the proceeds going to the host artist. If you need access to a free ticket, please email: [email protected]
