About this Event

WSET Level 2 Award in Wine Course


This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines.

You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence. Upon successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.


  • Day 1 - Saturday 21st February,10.30am to 5.30pm
  • Day 2 - Saturday 28th February,10.30am to 5.30pm
  • Day 3 and Examination - Saturday 7th March,10:30am to 5:30pm

  • 18+ hours of expert tuition, minimum 14 hours home study
  • 1 hour multiple choice exam, resulting in industury-recognised qualification.

What you will learn:
  • Wine tasting and how to describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®(SAT)
  • How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines made from eight principal grape varieties, including: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah/Shiraz, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling.
  • The style and quality of wines made from 22 regionally important grape varieties, produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world
  • How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence the styles of sparkling wines, fortified wines
  • Key labelling terms used to indicate origin, style and quality
  • Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine
  • Principles of food and wine pairing

The course will take place in our South Kensington store, basement room and limited to a maximum of ten students.


Exam: 45 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 60 minutes at the end of the third day.

Results: Students who score 55% or higher will receive the internationally recognized WSET Level 2 Wine Award certification and lapel pin.

Preparation: While Level 1 certification is NOT mandatory to attend , prior knowledge is required for this course, it is recommended to read the coursebook before.

Students who fail the examination can re-sit the test.The cost to re-sit the examination is £200, including VAT.
