About this Event
If climate fiction is nature writing projected into the future, consider this:
How do your senses respond to the natural world today?
What have summer heatwaves, sudden winter storms, or, conversely, strangely mild winters, done to your senses?
Have your tastes changed?
Do clothes and fabrics feel different?
Are colors and sounds different, depending on the season?
We live in a time where the Earth’s climate is in dramatic flux. How does your sensory experience of the natural world respond to that state?
In this workshop, we’ll look at several different works of climate fiction and discuss what you notice about how the authors approach the five senses. You’ll also be provided with a selection of prompts to write a short work of your own, and anyone is welcome to share and discuss them afterwards.
All participants should bring a notebook and a pen/pencil, laptop/tablet for 20 minutes of writing time.
See you there!
