The American Renaissance was a highly influential movement in American literature that ran from the early 19th century up to around the time of the Civil War. This movement included the works of Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Herman Melville, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Walt Whitman.During this program we will discuss some of the key works from these authors and their lasting impact on American literature and on our society. There will also be clips shown from film adaptations of some of these stories, plus biographical information regarding some of the authors involved in this movement.
This program is free and intended for teens and adults. No registration is required. This event is part of the America 250 initiative; celebrating our nation throughout the year.
