It’s 1878, and the Muldie family is moving West to start a new life. But when tragedy strikes and the boys have to take care of themselves, will they be able to stay together and make it to their father? Wagon Wheels is our Bookworm Barbs book for May. Bookworm Barbs is our book club for students in K-2. We read shorter chapter books with lots of pictures. Older first and second grade students may be able to read on their own, but the books also make a nice family read aloud, too.
Wagon Wheels is based on a true story, and it's part of our year-long celebration, America 250. 2026 is the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, so throughout 2026 we'll occasionally have book selections that honor the rich history of our country.
Bookworm Barbs is a book party! Not only will we talk about the book, we'll enjoy a snack and do a craft, too.
Pick up a copy of the book at the Children’s Department Desk while supplies last. Please register, as space is limited.
