About this Event
The WRISE LA Chapter welcomes professionals passionate about environment, sustainability, and community building. We would love to have you join us on this unique guided tour. The Arroyo Seco in Pasadena is a 24-mile historic watershed, larger than Central Park, in New York, originally serving as the land of indigenous communities like the Tongva. Today, it remains a vital natural space that supports wildlife, recreation, biodiversity, and community well-being.
This guided tour, hosted by the One Arroyo Foundation's Program Director Paloma Avila, features an easy, shaded walk where participants will explore the park’s history and the foundation’s mission. Attendees will gain insight into habitat preservation efforts and the foundation’s approach to environmental sustainability and community building.
The event is free, though Donations to the One Arroyo Foundation are appreciated to support their outstanding efforts in community building and nature preservation.
Starting at 9:00 AM, we will be guided on an approximately 2.5 mile walk along a portion of the Arroyo. The hike is rated easy to moderate. While much of the route is shaded, we recommend bringing sunscreen, water, and sunglasses. The hike will last approximately an hour and a half.
Parking: 415 S Arroyo Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91105 (Lower Arroyo Parking Lot)
There is also street parking available on Norwood Drive or California Terrace. Participants can walk down the road to meet us.
After the hike: Optionally, join us at Brookside Restaurant (1133 Rosemont Ave. Pasadena, CA 91103) for coffee and snacks.
