WPTA Iceland presents the Live-Finals of the 1st Edition of the International Piano Competition 2025 in Salurinn, Kópavogur. The outstanding young pianists who were selected from the online First Round will compete in two age groups, group 1 - 10-14 yrs. and group 2 - 15-19 yrs. performing classical masterworks on stage in Salurinn Concert Hall.
The focus of the piano competition is to build an international platform for the next generation of talented pianists aged 10-25 and give them the opportunity to improve their piano playing through competition in a friendly environment.
WPTA Iceland provides an international platform where promising piano students can shine, hone their skills, broaden their horizons and build meaningful relationships with other musicians and professors from around the world.
Generous monetary prizes for excellent performance in the competition are sponsored by Steinways & Tónastöðin and
will be awarded in both groups at the suggestion of the Jury.
Each finalist will receive a Finalist Diploma and Jury feedback
Jury decisions are final and binding.
The WPTA Iceland IPC25 strives to be an objective competition and thus requires from all participants and jury members to avoid conflicts of interest.
The competition Jury includes internationally renowned artists - Albert Mamriev, Peter Máté, Edda Erlendsdóttir, Liam Kaplan, Mathias Halvorsen, Erna Vala Arnardóttir and dr. Nína Margrét Grímsdóttir, chair of the Jury.
The events of the competition are open to the public and admission is free.
