About this Event

[Rain Date: May 17, 3-5 pm]

is a monthly open mic and refined intellectual symposium for trans artists.
3:00 pm open mic sign up | 3:30 pm readings | 4 pm panel
Panel featuring Feminist Press author Alice Stoehr. is a writer and bookseller living in Minneapolis. She has self-published four books of short fiction.

We invite the public to a very special daytime edition of the World Transsexual Forum, where the sights and sounds of the Target Brooklyn Community Garden will form a bucolic counterpoint to the heady intellectual discourse that will be taking place there. We will be interviewing author and bookseller Alice Stoehr, whose "uncompromising" short fiction "investigates the inner lives, evolving relationships, and often violent marginalization of a community of trans women in a large Midwestern town". It is described by one reader as, "Like a lightning bolt into my brain... makes me want to throw up." Maybe you'll feel that way too! As always, the event will feature an open mic and be streamed on twitch.

is a hybrid open mic and "chat show" happening monthly at Franklin Park in Crown Heights. Each month, hosts Jeanne Thornton and Anton Solomonik introduce 10-12 open mic performers and interview one or more writers, bookstore buyers, editors, or other individuals in the trans literary ecosystem. There's also a dedicated space for anyone with books, zines, or other written material to distribute them at events. Since April 2022, the World Trans Forum has featured a broad mix of established authors and indie figures, striving to create community space for the conversations that make trans literature possible.
