About this Event
OCU's Jeanne Hoffman Smith Center for Film & Literature is pleased to host an intimate generative writing workshop with acclaimed poet Patricia Smith as part of the 2026 Thatcher Hoffman Smith Poetry Series.
Designed especially for educators, teaching artists, and area poets, this hands-on evening will offer space to write, reflect, and engage with Patricia’s work in a collaborative setting. Participants will leave with ideas and inspiration to bring back to their classrooms and creative communities.
Event Details:
- Monday, March 30th, 2026
- Walker Center 151, Oklahoma City University

The evening will include a social gathering with refreshments and a generative writing workshop led by Patricia Smith. Exact sequencing of the social time and workshop will be shared closer to the event date.
Space is limited to 40 participants. Advance registration is required.
Because our goal is to serve educators across a range of schools and communities, priority registration will be given to current teachers during the initial registration period.
We look forward to gathering in the community and celebrating the power of poetry together.
