We are excited to have our very own Alysha Erick running our next workshop night ?“My name's Alysha. I'm a mum of three beautiful children. I'm 35yrs old. I'm Māori and Niuean. I've been writing poems since I was pretty young. A way I naturally fell toward, to express myself. I joined The OutSpoken Collective during COVID restrictions online and it was immediately a safe space for my inner voice I wasn't aware, needed to feel heard. Not that I'm screaming out "hear me", but somehow the space of workshop has provided a sense of validation to a voice unspoken which I think when you've felt voiceless for a long time, this kind of space can bring a sense of healing to that. That's why I continue to be part of the collective and why I share what I write so that others know that they have a space for their inner voice too and perhaps what I think and feel deep down, others may resonate with and go "me too" or "I'm not alone". That's my heart and soul for this space really.” - Alysha Erick

Our workshop nights tie into our current project which consist of 5 fortnightly workshops over a 10 week period and will conclude with a showcase event for family & friends.
The free workshop will start at 7:30pm at will in the OGGB260-009 lecture theatre which is based at the City Campus of the University of Auckland.
There is parking at the Sir Owen Glen Building which costs $6 but there should be free street carparks available after 6pm also.
