Let’s raise a glass to Atlanta’s bees and trees! Back by popular demand is our unique pollinator-centered cocktail making class. Craft your own cocktail and toast to both Atlanta’s pollinators (native bees, butterflies, and other insects) and the trees that offer vital food sources and nesting habitat for these pollinators. Drawing inspiration from local flowers, plants, and trees in Atlanta’s urban forest, participants will be guided through the creation of cocktails that not only tantalize the taste buds, but also highlight the crucial role of pollinators in our ecosystem. A craft mocktail will also be available. Where possible, we will celebrate a local, AgLanta Grown (and pollinated) ingredient! Adults age 21+ are invited to join us in raising a glass to nature, community, and the art of crafting cocktails with a purpose. Attendees will also have an opportunity to stroll the Trees Atlanta Kendeda TreeHouse gardens, amongst trees that sustain our native pollinator population, many which will be available to plant in your own yard at Trees Atlanta Annual Tree Sale.
About the Instructor: Jamilla Stephen is a seasoned bartender hailing from the vibrant metro-Atlanta scene with over a decade of experience in the food and beverage industry. With an unwavering passion for the art of crafting libations, she has always been drawn to the interconnectedness of people, nature, and the culinary world. Beyond the bar, she has explored various avenues of creation, experimenting with food, scrubs, tinctures, butters, and more, all in the pursuit of fostering a connection to the earth.
This love for the alchemy of flavors and textures has led Jamilla to a profound appreciation for the role of pollinators in the food and beverage industry. Recognizing the vital contribution of these unsung heroes, Jamilla has dedicated this class to educating herself and others on the significance of pollinators in our daily lives. Trees Atlanta staff will also share information about the trees and plants we can grow in Atlanta to help our pollinators continue to thrive.
About AgLanta Grown: AgLanta Grown celebrates all who share the vision of a more resilient, equitable, inclusive, just, and accessible food system for Atlanta. AgLanta Grown local ingredient featured is from an Oakland City farm that uses pollinator-friendly growing practices Learn more about AgLanta and AgLanta Grown here.
