Small group interactive workshop: Helping 6G avoid the problems of 5G and deliver real usefulness and value for users, network owners and society
Join Dean Bubley and Charlotte Patrick at The Clermont London, Charing Cross - Canterbury Room for a unique, small-group event to discuss the best path forward for 6G, from the perspective of pragmatism and commonsense.
Unlike many 6G conferences and summits it won't parrot the "mobile establishment" views about so-called cyberphysical systems, 100Gbps speeds or sub-terahertz frequencies. Neither does it reduce 6G to a mild software-centric upgrade in the 2030s, which some MNOs seem to prefer.
Instead, it questions the ITU's Wheel diagram and framework, and looks at how we can get a version of 6G that makes sense. The train has left the station - we cannot "stop" 6G even if we wanted to - but we can help determine its destination.
It aims to answer five questions:
- What should 6G achieve? What do end-users and society actually need from it?
- Which of the proposed innovations and technologies take us in that direction?
- How can we shift the industry structure and institutions to align? What is 6G Reset?
- How should policymakers engage, to make 6G as useful (in the real world) as possible?
- Will 5G Advanced be a convenient waypoint, or is it at a dead-end and distraction?
It is time for a reset – a moment in time that causes those involved to stop, re-think direction, and hopefully develop a better vision for 6G that aligns with what consumers, businesses and public sector users want while being profitable for all of those in the value chain. This workshop is part of that journey, and will give attendees an opportunity to direct and shape future strategies and policies accordingly.
The event will have a maximum of 2 attendees from any organisation, and it expected to have a diverse mix in the room - ideally from operators, enterprises, vendors, policymakers, industry associations, investors and others.
Registration is either through the "Buy tickets" page below, or get in touch directly via email (information AT disruptive-analysis DOT com) or via LinkedIn if you would like to be invoiced.
While this is not a specific #6GReset event, it will broadly align with its philosophy and vision. For more detail on the 6G Reset initiative, look at this post and article: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/deanbubley_6greset-6g-5g-activity-7250522442106822656-gMzg
