We will delve into the complexities of working with couples and individuals who have experienced religious trauma. **This workshop is for mental health professionals.**

Presenter: Susanna Guarino, LMHC is a therapist in private practice in Rochester specializing in religious trauma, spiritual abuse recovery, cult recovery and couples therapy. She loves helping individuals who grew up in repressive or authoritarian environments to find their voices, heal from the past and recover their authentic selves.

Teaching Methods: Slides, lecture, group activity and case studies. Participants will receive the powerpoint in .pdf format.

Learning Objectives:

• Participants will learn how to identify religious trauma, spiritual abuse, or cultic groups.
• Participants will learn how to assess for and identify religious trauma in both individual and couples work.

• Participants will learn methods for working with religious trauma in individual and couples therapy.
  Agenda:

• 9:30- 10:45 What is religious trauma? Identification, assessment, red flags

• 10:45-12 pm Treatment tips, best practices, group discussion

• 12-12:30 Q&A, evaluations

CEUs: This workshop was approved for 3 Social Work and LMHC* CEUs.
