About this Event
Working More Radically Within Your Organisation
Three workshops from RadHR looking at how progressive organisations can make their internal ways of working more deeply reflect their values.
- Doing DEI (Mon 30 Sep 18:00)
- Being Class-Conscious (Mon 21 Oct 18:00)
- Introduction to Radical HR (Mon 18 Nov 18:00)
Who are these sessions for?
- People who want to start analysing or changing their organisation’s mix of people, dynamics and priorities
- Organisations who struggle to reach and involve people from outside their middle-class ‘comfort zone’ & are looking for practical tools.
- Any progressive or ‘radical’ organisations wanting to think more about how they can enact their values through their internal policies and processes.
Why Attend?
- The masterclasses will share insights from not just the facilitators, but the large range of organisations they’ve worked with to try and create more values-led internal cultures
- The masterclasses will offer practical examples of e.g. ‘radical’ pay policies to look at as well as allow for reflection and discussion as to how these might (or might not) work for you organisation
Being Class Conscious (Session 2 of 3)
- How to understand which socioeconomic groups you aren’t reaching (and why)
- Adapting your offer and outreach to be more compelling to new groups;
- Making sure your new audience’s actual experience meets their expectations and needs.
RadHR
These workshops will be facilitated by members of the RadHR team. RadHR is about practically applying anti-oppressive ideas to how social change organisations and workplaces organise internally. It offers alternatives to off-the-shelf HR policies and processes, which tend to replicate the very oppressions that our organisations strive to challenge.

This session will be led by Duncan Exley who has worked in a range of campaigning organisations, most recently the Equality Trust. His book The End of Aspiration? (about barriers encountered by people from ‘lower’ socioeconomic barriers in ‘elite’ organisations and careers) was published by Policy Press in 2019. He now works with nonprofit organisations who want to widen participation.
