About this Event
The Beat Genius presents presents "Words & Music," an innovative free showcase bringing together Live Music, Spoken Word, and Rap performances in one seamless evening of artistic expression at the London College of Contemporary Music (LCCM).
Set for April 24th at The Music Box (Union Street, SE1), this student-produced event celebrates the interconnectedness of musical traditions & verbal artistry. Beginning at 7:30pm (Doors @ 7pm), the evening progresses naturally from melodic live performances into thought-provoking spoken word, culminating in a dynamic session of rap sets that blend both worlds.
"We wanted to create a space where different forms of expression could complement each other," says Kerrie, event director & seasoned music promoter. "The progression from traditional musical performance to Rap, with Spoken Word as the bridge, creates a unique narrative throughout the event taking the audience on an undulating cultural journey."
The showcase features rising talent from London's vibrant artistic community, including: Jazz vox from Silvia Leonzio, Neo Soul flavoured grooves from LCCM band Ranhura, Smooth Vocalist Sophia accompanied by Pianist Oliver Poole, cutting edge Rap from Tiny Godfather, D-Rilla, D33Wain, Lucas Lee, Pea the GOAT, special Guest appearance from Layyah winner of BBC’s The Rap Game UK Series 6 & culminating in a Finale headline from one of the hardest working rappers in the space right now the mighty Mobi1. Each performer brings their own unique perspective to this celebration of sound & language via Words & Music.
"Words & Music" is free to attend, though early arrival is recommended as capacity is limited to 150 people. Doors open at 7pm for a 7:30pm start, with the event concluding at 10pm.
