You may have seen a story the other day telling you to keep your eyes peeled for some exciting news…
I am delighted to announce that Word of Plymouth has been asked to be apart of Plymouth Poetry Festival!
We usually gather on the third Sunday of the month, but have moved our night to the 28th of April (last Sunday), so we can be apart of this gorgeous opportunity.
I am also very excited to announce our first guest poet. We will be welcoming back to the stage Ryan Griffin who will have a 20 minute slot to showcase his incredible words.
Ryan has lived in the South West for the past 36 years where he has seen himself performing on many platforms under different guises. Whether it be music, acting, or Poetry ryan has always been active within expression.
Having studied in Plymouth Ryan has a keen interest in the creative community “ I personally feel that Plymouth has one of the most thriving communities surrounding creative arts, I’m proud that’s it’s a part of my history”
In 2019 Ryan found his work published and winning competitions. “ I had never really seen myself as a writer only someone who strives to be honest in their expression, I’ve just been lucky to have been seen by the right people” Ryan’s writing focuses on foundations to angst, loss to love. His observations are at times absurd, comedic, raw and unforgiving.
Megan will also be back to hosting and sharing some of her own work - and as it’s a festival, she may just be in a very sparkly sequin jumpsuit.
The night will still run as an open mic, so please come down early to ensure you get a slot. So far the nights have been so warm and full of heart and community; I am expecting this festival edition to be truly delicious and full of Plymouth’s finest poets.
Of course, come as you are, with your gorgeous words (sparkles and sequins are highly encouraged, though).
We cannot wait to welcome you back.
And a huge thank you @plympoetryfest for the opportunity ❤️
